GVF, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to inspire mobility choices for all, would like to recognize the Borough of Conshohocken and Upper Providence Township for being selected as recipients of Multimodal Transportation Fund grants for projects supported by GVF. The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grant funding to municipalities, councils of governments, businesses, economic development organizations, public transportation agencies, and ports and rail freight entities to improve transportation assets that enhance communities, pedestrian safety, and transit access.
"Congratulations to the Borough of Conshohocken and Upper Providence Township on being selected to receive over $4.3 million in funding through the multimodal transportation fund. GVF supported both of these projects and it's wonderful to see GVF partners being selected for these types of projects,” said Rob Henry, Executive Director, GVF.
The Borough of Conshohocken
The Borough of Conshohocken received $1,324,000 for traffic calming and pedestrian safety improvements along Fayette Street, to make the street safer and easier to navigate for all road users.
Upper Providence Township
Upper Providence Township received $3 million for bridge replacement and roundabout construction on Black Rock Road. The Black Rock Roundabout & Bridge Rehabilitation Project is located at an intersection that serves as part of several major commuter routes. The present configuration is unsafe, lacks visibility, and does not account for the high speeds along the curved Route 113 segment of the intersection. The roundabout will improve safety and traffic flow. This project will also provide extensive trail connectors to the County circuit trails, as well as into the Royersford area and Chester County.
With over 35 years of mobility planning expertise, GVF works to improve climate, equity, and overall quality of life through transportation demand management (TDM) programs and policies. TDM are strategies that help by reducing single-occupancy vehicles through education, projects, legislative policies and/or ordinances. Both projects incorporate TDM, and GVF is pleased to offer support to each of these projects.
