Norristown Area School District Recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Business

As part of the My School in Motion Program, the Norristown Area School District has earned recognition as a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Business from the League of American Bicyclists! 

GVF worked with the Norristown Area School District during the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years to implement the My School in Motion Program to make walking and biking to school safer through education, community collaboration, and infrastructure audits. As part of the program, GVF worked with the school district to apply to the League of American Bicyclists Bicycle Friendly America Program.

The Norristown Area School District has joined the movement of over 1,100 local businesses, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies across the United States in transforming the American workplace to be more welcoming to our customers and employees who bike. More and more people are discovering the joy and benefits of biking every day, and we are proud to support the health and well-being of our community by being more welcoming to people choosing to bike.

“At the heart of this work is consistency,” shares Bill Nesper, Executive Director of the League of American Bicyclists. “Bicycle Friendly Businesses don’t treat biking as a one-time project. They build it into their policies, their benefits, and their culture. NASD has shown what it looks like to stick with that commitment and make it part of how they operate every day.”

NASD joins a total of 1,140 current BFBs across the country, all united in a commitment to transform American workplaces to be more welcoming to customers and employees who bike. The Bicycle Friendly Business award recognizes an organization’s contributions over months and years to the movement to build a Bicycle Friendly America for everyone.
