In 2013, GVF received a William Penn Foundation grant. The grant was administered through DVRPC and allowed for an analysis of Schuylkill River Trails’ Mont Clare Bridge, a critical link between Montgomery and Chester Counties.

In October of 2019, construction began on the new connector of the Schuylkill River Trail across the Mont Clare Bridge, and it was completed in October of 2020.

This connection now allows pedestrians and cyclists to safely travel from the Borough of Phoenixville in Chester County to Mont Clare's village.

The collaboration of Phoenixville Borough, GVF, Chester County, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, PennDOT, and Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission staff with the Michael Baker International design team were vital to the successful completion of this noteworthy project.
